Today is the first day I have received word from any of my friends in Kenya -- so instead of my words I would like to share hers.Hi Diana,
Greetings from me and my family. We are safe and doing well. How are you dear? It was good that you left Kenya before this shame befell us. Diana you cannot imagine how things are in Kenya. The post-election results has left Kenya naked. Dear it is so terrible especially at Eldoret. We were not able to move from our houses to town. We stayed hungry in houses, not bacause of lack of money but all shops were closed. The town was full of army people. Diana, peoples houses were burnt, people were displaced, others were killed. Turbo till now no shop is open. The place where we used to eat chips and the petrol station were burnt to ash. It is bad. Many displaced people are living in police stations and in camps. Grace had to take off but she is now safe.
As a program you can imagine the much work we have. Some staff too were affected. Susan, the social worker at Burnt Forest, her house was burnt. Anyway, we are praying for peace to be restored to our country. The patients too were not left behind. The agony is the same. We are safe and back to job. Transport to turbo is double what it used to be but we must work. No staff at turbo was direct affected. May you pray with us to have peace restored. The political leaders are not yet in agreement.
Send my love to all and greetings too from my family.
Maggie
